happiness is a bubbling carboy
Dec. 23rd, 2003 12:06 amA totally basic American pale ale recipe, and it's fermenting like gangbusters.
1/2lb crystal 70 malt, steeped.
6.8 lb pale malt extract
1 oz Northern Brewer hops, 60 minutes
3/4 oz Cascade hops, 30 minutes
3/4 oz Cascade hops, 15 minutes
Gravity: 1.050 after dilution to ~4.5 gallons.
Yeast: White Labs #WLP001
Sadly, I haven't managed yet to get a good photo of "vigorously fermenting carboy", but it's pretty impressive to see that the gas produced by microbes is enough to get five gallons of liquid churning away, and 4F above ambient temperature.
