Here I am, deveoping and debugging a system built in 2007, and the best mechanism I have for loading software onto it is XMODEM.

My god. I downloaded my first porn over XMODEM. It was, I think, 320x200x16.

I mean, isn't ZMODEM available on the other end?

Nope. It's an embedded system running a cut-down version of RedBoot, and they never quite implemented ZMODEM.

One of these days the vendor's other subcontractor will finish the network driver for RedBoot and then I can switch to using gigabit ethernet, but in the meantime, I get to sit here and watch the bytes slowly flowing by.
